Different digits, same shit
Everyone around me seems to be celebrating the start of a new year. Food. Booze. Parties. Reunions and gatherings. Do we really need an excuse of having seemingly reached another milestone to participate in these activities normally associated with the festive season?
The start of a new year is no big deal really. The difference between 31st Dec 2011 and 1st Jan 2012 is actually not far more significant than say, 12th March 2012 and 13th March 2012. Really, what are people celebrating for? The fact that they get to sign off their dates with a different year? Well I’m not one of them. The fact that they made it through a difficult year? If I remember correctly, shit wont disappear on the strike of 12. Your worries and concerns won’t go away unless you take actions to resolve it so the herald of a new year is actually largely irrelevant to our concerns. I know. If only things can be that simple and we can all start on a clean slate each time we begin on a new year.
If only we can celebrate the end of a day and look forward to the next day in the same spirit of ending 31st Dec and moving on to 1st Jan.
